Many of us, uses noname Chinese GPS receivers (PNA), just like me. Unfortunately, the battery of mine was gone. It was undesirable for me, because I often use my GPS navigation while walking.

As many of you know, iGO 8 is a navigation program for various Windows Mobile devices.
The higher end devices however, such as the HD2 and Touch Pro2, have resolutions that are originally not supported by iGO and according to the program’s developers, only the following resolutions are supported:

The screen rotation also didn’t work properly on the HTC HD2. However, XDA member ultraslan decided to make some modifications to iGO to create a good user experience on the HD2. He did a very good job and also managed to get Pinch to Zoom working.

Get the latest speedcams update for iGO8 - 2011 speedcams!

First of all, be sure you've got the corresponding speedcam file for your iGO 8 device, downloaded from SpeedcamUpdates.com.

If still haven't got it, you can get it now filling the form you see on the left side of this page.

Extract files from the SpeedcamUpdates zip package. If the file you have downloaded is not a ZIP file means the file is already decompressed, and you can continue with the next step of this installation instructions.
Copy into your iGO 8 device, the extracted files before, into the memory card, in a folder called "./iGO8/Content/Speedcam".
Go outside with your iGO 8 device to get GPS coverage. Activate the alerts using "Navigation Menu/Settings/Warnings/speedcam Warning" and "speedcam Settings".

MioPocket - Unlock for GPS devices

What is MioPocket?

MioPocket (MEE-oh-pok-it) is an "unlock" for GPS devices (aka PNA) running Windows CE. Such devices almost always boot into the manufacturer's software with no way to exit it, meaning that you cannot run any other software; i.e. the device is "locked." Unlocking your device allows you to use it for far more than the manufacturer intended (ex. for music, movies, appointments, other navigation apps, etc.) and more like a PDA. MioPocket is the most-packed and most-fully-featured unlock for PNAs available and is free and legal to use, as it consists 100% of freely-distributable content. What MioPocket is not is a replacement for MioMap, Mobile Navigator or any other OEM navigation software. It is just a frontend from which you may launch the navigation software that came with your device or that you purchase separately.

What types of programs does MioPocket come with?

MioPocket comes with just about everything that you might want: three media players (video and audio, nearly all popular formats, including MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, MP4, H.264/AVC, WMV, MOV, DivX, XviD and more), four e-book readers, multiple dictionaries (including English to 5 languages), dozens of games, two image viewers, two paint programs, MS Office document viewers, text editors, handwritten note-taking apps, four general GPS plotting/mapping apps (good for geocaching), three different appointments/tasks apps, internet apps, registry editors, task managers/switchers, file managers, a contacts app, a calculator, a unit converter, an alarm clock and more (all free/shareware). See the Readme file for a full list. Note: MioPocket does not come with MioMap, iGo, Garmin, TomTom or any other commercial navigation software. Icons and scripts are included for them, but not the programs, themselves (since they are not free).

Which devices does MioPocket run on?

Technically, MioPocket should run on any Windows CE-based device. Despite the name (a nod to the Mio brand), it's evolved to become flexible and not hard-coded to any particular brand or configuration. Every device is slightly different, though, and due to the great many brands and configurations that are out there, the ease of installation and the number of apps and features that actually work will vary. Most major Windows CE-based GPS brands, such as Mio (which MioPocket was originally designed for), Magellan, Navigon, Navman and Asus (and some other lesser brands) have installation instructions in MioPocket's Readme file. For obscure brands without included instructions, you may have to look around online (including the gpspassion.com forums) for unlock instructions and then adapt MioPocket accordingly... or be a pioneer and figure it out for yourself. Note that TomTom and Garmin devices are Linux-based and, hence, MioPocket (which is Windows CE-based) cannot run on them.

Does it install to SD card or to flash disk (SD-free)?

Both. You have the option of either. See the Readme file for instructions.

Which features make MioPocket unique compared to other unlocks?

* Resolution independence. Will work with any resolution, from 320x240 to 800x480 and larger.
* Touch scrolling. Scroll through icons and pages of icons by swiping your finger, like with high-end smartphones (ex. the iPhone).
* Add/edit icons in seconds by tapping and holding on the screen.
* Fully customizable shell. Use your own image as wallpaper and change many other elements.
* Install to SD card or to internal flash drive (SD-free).
* Close or minimize any open application, even those without any way to do either.
* Bring up the keyboard (and do many other tasks) without closing or minimizing an application.
* Input text via many different keyboards or handwriting recognition.
* Rotate the screen on-the-fly for apps that work better in portrait mode.
* Remote control your device from your Windows desktop.
* Access your device while connected to USB (no connection screen in the way).
* Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 pre-installed.
* Assign any app (ex. MioMap, any other navigation app or the device's original menu) to a quick launch button found on every page.
* Access the start menu without displaying the taskbar.
* Skin the taskbar to look like XP Silver, XP Royale or Windows 7.
* Automatic registry importing. Just add your own .reg file to the Registry folder and it will be imported during installation.
* All of MioPocket's settings can be configured directly from a menu within MioPocket.
* More included applications and games than any other unlock.

Overview: These brand new updated IGO speedcam database files (as 31-01-2009) are the version with railway crossings and the other without it. The databases are about the full EU as listed below.

Download Instructions: Delete all files in iGO8\content\speedcam, then copy the .txt file you've chosen in there. You'll have to wait some minutes (depending on the GPS device) for the first starting of igo after the copy. No worries on time's lenght, it'll start for sure.

TomTom Navigator 7.916.9189.1 for HTC Touch Pro2 [QVGA/VGA/WVGA]

This is the latest version (specifically the VGA/WVGA version) that works with the Touch Pro 2. I have custom packaged it so that it will not mess up an existing Bluetooth stack, as well as removing the Today plugin (which I personally think is garbage).

If this package somehow violated the TOS of this site (I can't imagine how, a quick search produces multiple links on these forums), then I apologize. TomTom doesn't seem to make available/support the software for Windows Mobile PDAs on their Website (iPhone is there though, how odd). Their policy has always seemed to be the sale of maps, so I'm releasing these packages with that in mind.

Note: DO NOT ask me for maps. Do not ask any question about where to get them. Purchase v8 maps from TomTom. If you use software, support the developer (so they can keep their job and make better/new software) by actually PAYING for it. I know, its a novel concept.

Overview: I made a skin that is based on the Amigo Ultra Skin by linknet. Compatible resolutions: 320x240, 400x240, 480x272, 640x480, and 800x480.

If you would like to change the the voice alerts, create audio files named "!malered.wav", "!malespeed.wav", "!femalespeed.wav", & "!femalered.wav" and place them in a folder called "audio" that is in the same location as your data.gro file. You can make your own wav as long as it is 44100Hz 16 bit mono and named correctly. I have also made the voice files for many languages available in the Voice Alerts Audio Pack.

To take advantage of the MortScript shortcut feature, place the "aautorun" package in the games directory such that the path to the exe is "\content\games\aautorun\Autorun.exe". The sample script will run coreplayer. Place the coreplayer package in the games folder or wherever you would like and adjust your pathes in the Autorun script accordingly. The MortScript shortcut is enabled through the advanced settings menu. To run coreplayer, press the MortScipt shortcut button. Wait for Coreplayer to start. Once you select your play list and start, you can minimize using the button in the upper left, and the music will keep playing. To turn off coreplayer, press the MortScript button again. You can also watch movies with coreplayer and the navigation commands will play in the background. If you were to try to play coreplayer by simply clicking its icon in the Games menu, you would not be able to minimize or listen to navigation commands while open. The MortScript icon in the Games menu works the same way as the shortcut. Realize also that you can do ANYTHING with this button. Just write the script. As of V30, I've added the option of 8 more scripts. Place them in the same aautorun folder and name them autorun2.exe-autorun9.exe. Cycle through them by clicking the globe icon. Run the script by holding the globe down. Only autorun.exe gets executed by the trigger options.

How to make the right choice of GPS navigation system, first you answer the following questions:

This "How To" guide caters for 2 types of GPS / Sat Nav

TYPE 1: Steps 1, 2 and 3 is a "How To" guide is written specifically for a number of Chinese GPS units made by YF
International, that are sold through online shopping sites - see LINKS. If you have one of these YF International units,
the steps 1, 2 and 3 apply, but please read the DISCLAIMER first.

TYPE 2: If you have another type of WinCE GPS (such as a Mio or an un-branded type), then STEP 2
(GPS_Menu_Pez) is the only part that you need. GPS_Menu_Pez is written for resolutions of 480x272 (widescreen).
Some of the icons are set up to work with the YFAP30 menu in STEP 3 but you can easily edit the program to suit
your specific needs / applications.

In the future, I plan to offer a "Generic" version for download that should be 100% compatible with MOST
WinCE GPS / Satellite Navigation units. I may also offer it in different resolutions (i.e. for 7" GPS units with
800x480 resolutions). At present I only have this version (480x272 with YFAP30 support) available. Stay
Tuned!!!

Step 1)

When your new GPS unit arrives, it will probably have an old version of firmware on it. Before you continue onto the
next steps you must update this firmware. Put the two files extracted from the RAR file below in the root of your SD
card. Then, power off (not sleep) your GPS and turn it back on. A blue upgrade screen should appear. After
upgrading, please remove the two upgrade files from the SD card. (This firmware update fixes some problems with
the FM Transmitter.)

If you lose your Bluetooth after this firmware upgrade then DO NOT panic - it will return in Step 3!

Step 2)

Now you can install my new "GPS Menu" program. This is the one that allows you to launch your multiple
pre-purchased GPS programs (like TomTom and Ozi) / WindowsCE / Games / Apps etc...

All of the instructions are in the READ ME Text file included.

Ver2.0 is basically the same as Ver1.0 but with the following changes:

-The color 'theme' has been changed to a "Black" theme.
-The main "Programs" screen now has 4 program icons instead of 3.
-The Windows CE icon has been moved to the "Tools" menu.

NOTE: There is a file called "SystemInformation32.exe" included in this "GPS Menu" that allows you to run it on a
WinXP/Vista PC to see what it looks like first.... My GPS menu also includes some freeware Games / Tools / File
Managers / Document Readers etc. to get you started.

Step 3)

Now it is time to replace the clunky (and ugly) standard menu/skin with a nice new one. If you lost your Bluetooth in
Step 1, then this will fix that problem too.

Noka N97 GPS issue fix

Engeneer would know that if you put hard plastic to cove delicat camera lens, and some dust particle comes in, it would scratch camera. Engeneer would know than 128 Mb ram is NOT ENOUGH for runing multiple applications at the same time. And finally an engeneer would defintively try if GPS is working properly before making, i dont know, million phone units.
As we all know, GPS on n97 is terrible, comparing to n95 and n95.8Gb. (Dont know about others, those two i own).
nokia maps constatnly loosing gps connection, leading to constant recalculation. Totaly useless. I went on geocaching trip other day, carrying my 600 euro handset with me, only to return home because i was unable to find geocache, since gps data is way to inaccurate.

This is a must have software for anybody who owns PNA GPS navigation with Windows CE OS.

The CeRegEditor is a registry editor for any device (PDA) based on WindowsCE, PocketPC2003 and Windows Mobile (WM5, WM6) system. It runs on desktop PC but operates on a mobile device. With this feature user is able to user a normal keyboard, mouse and big - even 21' PC's monitor :)

1. Make a full backup of your TT.
2. Format the memory in following way:
Internal memory (if available): FAT32
SD Card up to 2GB with FAT, above with FAT32
3. Copy the complete content of the navcore package directly onto the TT device
4. Copy the map onto the TT device
5. Download the keygen and start RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd
6. Choose option 1 and then select the correct drive
7. Turn off the TT and press 20 sec long the reset button
8. Start the TT and reset the settings to factory default
9. Done

Software is cracked using Pepper's solution. Spirit supports maps from Mireo products (mioMap 2008, Cardinale), tested on 2009.09 European Maps ( viewtopic.php?f=267&t=58203&start=150# ), and working OK.
Before first use need to edit file spirit.ini (path to maps MapDir=), add Home=1 - for possibility to enter to main menu taping on blue square at right down corner of screen, and add IAccept=1 - and no more window with agriment at start.

MioPocket 3.0 - the best UI for PNA GPS devices

MioPocket is a frontend for Windows CE-based devices, mainly GPS navigation devices. How to unlock chinese PNA GPS devices

Here is a very simple hack to unlock your chinese noname PNA GPS device to the original Windows CE (removing the shell), after that you can install any Windows CE software on it.

1. Create a text file called YFGo2CE.bld. The file's contents can be anything but must be at least 1 byte.
2. Copy the YFGo2CE.bld file to the root directory of the SD card
3. Power off (not sleep) the GPS, then switch it back on

FindMyCar – find your parked car automatically by GPS

Devices running Windows Mobile 5 or later (touch screen).
Internal GPS.
Car charger.
Microsoft Compact Framework 3.5

DESCRIPTION
FindMyCar runs in the background and uses the GPS to estimate where you last parked your car.
The GPS is activated mainly when connected to a car charger to eliminate battery drain.
Once FindMyCar succeeded in estimating your car’s position, you can click the car icon. A Google map will show up (for that an internet connection is needed). On the map you will see a red balloon indicating your car’s location and a blue balloon indicating your current location (if available).

ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Your speed is displayed in Windows mobile today screen. (There is a little lag, will try to fix it later).
GPS is kept “hot” when connected to the car charger – meaning that you get immediate fix when launching navigation software or any other software that uses the GPS.
You can now see the time that has elapsed since you last parked.
